To keep your body strong, give it nutritious foods!
Did you know that your body needs to grow and repair itself every day? To make sure the body can do it, we need to give it the best building blocks. The main buildings blocks of the body are in the foods we eat: water, vegetables, fruits, proteins and fats.
Water is important to bring the nutrients where they are needed and remove wastes.
Vegetables are important for minerals, vitamins and fibers.
Proteins are important to repair our organs, build muscles and make many hormones.
Fats are important to make healthy cell membranes, to insulate all our nerve cells and make hormones.
A diet full of quality food provides the body with all it needs to help balance your hormones. Good carbs are vegetables and berries. Good fats are olives, avocados, olive oil, flaxseed oil, coconut oil or butter from organic grass-fed cows. Good animal proteins are chicken, turkey, beef, pork, fish, and seafood. Good plant proteins are nuts and seeds. The more the food is eaten close to its natural state the better it is for the body. So eating your vegetables and berries raw is usually the best. Eating a nice piece of meat that you bought from the butcher is also the best. If you can afford go organic, go ahead…The idea is to stop eating prepared and fast food, and to start eating real food and cooking at home!
You would not exist without your body. So start looking at it as your best friend. It deserves the best food to keep you going, keep you free and keep you happy.

You can follow Dr. Jason Fung and Dietdoctor.com for more information. OHIP doctors don't always want to test the fasting insulin resistance, just go to a naturopath and get it tested regularly. It is not an expensive test (around $50). This is one of the most powerful marker to avoid diabetes type 2, obesity and many more related disease.
