How to start?
Being able to raise your heart rate (HR) and breathing deeper at the same time is the first step towards fitness. The more your heart and your lungs work together, the more efficient they will become. The idea is to always try to push yourself a bit harder or a bit further.
It should be easy because cardio activities are usually quite fun: walking, running, cycling, ballroom dancing, step, Zumba, soccer, basketball, volleyball, hockey, skipping… Pick the one you enjoy and do it as hard as you can, you need to break into a sweat! Don’t be too complaisant and not vary your training because you will stop seeing benefits. With time, the body gets used to everything and needs new challenges to keep improving. It doesn’t have to be structured but you should try to do 30 to 60 minutes of cardio 3 times a week.
